Questions from Pepijn Van Houwelingen MP (FVD) to the Minister for Foreign Affairs regarding the war in Ukraine

Questions from Pepijn Van Houwelingen MP (FVD) to the Minister for Foreign Affairs regarding the war in Ukraine, submitted on 1 September 2026

  1. Is the Government aware of the fundamental criticism (largely in line with the position of the FVD parliamentary group) of the (proxy) war in Ukraine voiced by various renowned (international) experts such as Glenn Diesen, Jeffrey Sachs, John Mearsheimer and Douglas Macgregor – experts who, naturally, will never be given a platform in the Dutch media to express their views on this matter?

  2. How does the Government view their fundamental criticism [1], which is surprisingly unanimous, namely that the war in Ukraine is an absurd (and unwinnable) proxy war waged by the West against Russia, which will lead to the destruction of Ukraine and possibly the downfall of Europe?

  3. Is it possible for the government, for a change, to provide a substantive answer to the preceding question, without dismissing the criticism as ‘conspiracy theories’, ‘Kremlin propaganda’ or ‘disinformation’, but by addressing the reasons these experts give for their assertions and fundamental criticism of the war in Ukraine (and which the government should be aware of)? If not, why not?
