FVD MP Jansen temporarily cedes seat in Parliament to Van Houwelingen because of Covid inquiry

Shortly after the elections, FVD party leader, Thierry Baudet, called on the Lower House to resume the paused parliamentary inquiry into Covid policy. The new House, which has a totally different political arrangement from the one which existed before Nov. 22, complied. The resumption of the parliamentary inquiry counts as an important victory for our party. It also comes with great responsibility. FVD is the only party which has fundamentally opposed all aspects of the Covid policy from the beginning.

In that light, Frederik Jansen has decided temporarily to resign as a member of the House of Representatives. He is giving up his seat, paving the way for Pepijn van Houwelingen to return to parliament.

Jansen announced his decision on Monday evening, 1st January 2024, during an FVD broadcast. He cited the resumption of the parliamentary enquiry on Covid as the main reason for his decision. By taking up his seat, Pepijn Van Houwelingen will be able to continue his important research on Covid measures and vaccines.

Van Houwelingen reveals that he has great respect for Jansen's decision. “You only see this team spirit at FVD. I really appreciate Frederik giving me this opportunity. I can assure him and the rest of the Netherlands that I will do everything I can to get to the bottom of this.”

FVD is determined that the inquiry in the Dutch parliament will do its job properly, unlike the one recently conducted in the British parliament which has been hijacked by the establishment and whose main goal seems to be to argue that the UK government did not lock down enough or push enough vaccines. This is emphatically not FVD’s position.

Jansen's departure from the Lower House does not mean that he is quitting FVD. On the contrary, from now on he will have much more time to use his creative, technical and organizational talents in other places within our party. Jansen will stay on as a board member of FVD, will remain involved in the parliamentary group and will focus, among other things, on expanding the ecosystem of our movement.

We are extremely grateful to Frederik Jansen for everything he has meant so far as a member of parliament, including on the dossiers of immigration, climate, digital issues and gender indoctrination. We look forward to his return to parliament and wish Pepijn as his temporary replacement tremendous success in the coming period.

To everyone who supports them in their important work, we make the call to join our party!
